The goal of the project "Attractiveness of Nature Sites' Cultural Heritage for Border Region Tourism" is to strengthen the vitality of business related to nature and culture and create new business opportunities. The project will compile cultural heritage information related to nature in South Karelia and develop related productization, as well as increase the visibility of sites and services combining nature and culture. The project responds to changes in border region tourism demand and new customer needs in nature and local tourism.

The goal of the project is to provide local tourism entrepreneurs with content and tools to develop border region tourism services. Additionally, the project increases the understanding of local tourism operators and residents about the value of their own area and encourages them to cherish the cultural heritage of their area. The project is implemented by LAB University of Applied Sciences (administrator), South Karelia Recreation Area Foundation, and Finnish Wilderness Museum Foundation.

The Wilderness Heritage Foundation of Finland collects living South Karelian wilderness heritage in the project, i.e., skills, practices, and stories related to the themes of the future museum (hunting, fishing, hiking, and gathering). This collection of intangible cultural heritage is carried out digitally, through interviews, and in connection with various events. Based on the collected material, a publication and a story bank of wilderness heritage will be produced. The compilation of the story bank is the collection and preservation of living heritage and nationally significant collection work. The story bank also serves as an information distributor and thus helps entrepreneurs develop their service content. The collected material will also be utilized in the preparation of the future Wilderness and Nature Culture Museum.
